Handwoven Bamboo Rattan Pendant Lamp

A woven shade is the only kind that does something interesting to the room when it is switched on. Light escapes between the bamboo strands and lands on the walls and ceiling as a pattern of fine lines and shadows, so the fitting lights the space and decorates it in the same movement.

Each shade is woven by hand over a frame, which means the weave tightens and loosens slightly across the piece and no two are identical. The natural bamboo is left with a clear finish so the color stays warm and the grain visible, and it pairs easily with linen, wood and plants without needing the rest of the room to commit to a boho scheme.

Hung low over a dining table it makes a strong centrepiece; hung in a kitchen it softens hard surfaces. It takes a standard screw-fit bulb, and a warm low-wattage LED will bring out the shadow pattern best while keeping heat away from the natural fiber. This is a hardwired fitting: isolate the circuit at the breaker panel first and use a qualified electrician if you are not confident with house wiring.
