The problem a blanket hoodie solves is real, even if the product looks absurd in the photographs. An ordinary blanket keeps you warm right up until you need to stand up, reach for something or answer the door, at which point it slides off and the warmth goes with it. Putting a hood and sleeves on it means the blanket comes with you instead, and the deep front pouch is genuinely useful for cold hands, a phone or a television remote.

It is made from Shu velvet, a soft plush pile that is 100% polyester - the same family as fleece, warm without the weight of a heavy woven blanket. Thirty-one prints are available, each offered in a short and a long length, running from plain and neutral through plaid and leopard to seasonal snowman, pumpkin, deer and Christmas designs. One garment is supplied per order.

Sizing is important here. These are cut to Asian sizing, which runs one to two sizes smaller than US and European sizing, so order the larger option if you are between sizes - and treat Long and Short as coverage rather than as a body measurement, since length is the only choice offered. Allow 0.79-1.2 in of variance on any measurement, as these are measured by hand, and expect small colour differences between your screen and the fabric. Follow the care label: fleece and plush do badly in high heat, which mats the pile permanently and takes the softness with it, so keep it away from a hot dryer.
