Women's Oversized Button-Front Cardigan, S to 5XL

An oversized cardigan is the most useful layer in an autumn wardrobe because it does not need the rest of the outfit to cooperate. Cut generously, it goes over a t-shirt, a shirt, a dress or a sweater without pulling at the shoulders or riding up at the back.

The button front is what makes it more versatile than a wrap or a pullover. Fastened it reads as a jacket and holds warmth at the front; open it hangs as a long line and works as a layer rather than outerwear, so one garment covers a cool morning and a warm afternoon.

The knit is soft with enough weight to hang properly rather than clinging, and the drop shoulder is intentional to the silhouette rather than a sizing error. Wash cool, reshape while damp and dry flat rather than hanging, which stops a heavier knit stretching out of shape under its own weight over a season.

• Generous oversized cut that layers over anything
• Button front works fastened as a jacket or open as a layer
• Soft knit with enough weight to hang cleanly
• Intentional drop shoulder silhouette
• Wash cool, reshape while damp and dry flat
