Wabi-sabi is about accepting that materials have a character of their own, and travertine is a good place to start. The stone is naturally pitted and banded, so each Huangdong wall lamp carries marks that were never designed and cannot be repeated. Paired with a warm wooden element, it reads as something found rather than manufactured.

The light is handled indirectly. Rather than pointing a source into the room, the fitting washes light across the stone and the wall behind it, which picks out the texture of the travertine and gives a soft glow with no visible bulb. In a bedroom or a hallway that is exactly the register you want after dark.

Because stone varies, expect tonal differences between pieces and small natural voids in the surface; these are characteristic of travertine and not defects. The fitting is heavier than a metal sconce, so fix into a sound substrate with appropriate anchors rather than drywall alone. This is a hard-wired fitting: isolate the circuit at the breaker panel before installation and use a qualified electrician if you are not confident with house wiring.
