Icar Scandinavian Wooden LED Wall Lamp

The Icar is a wall light built around restraint. A single wooden form, an LED hidden inside it, and light emerging from a slot rather than a shade. There is no bulb to see and no bracket on show, so when it is off the fitting reads as a piece of timber fixed thoughtfully to the wall.

Hiding the source is what makes the light comfortable. Instead of a bright point at eye level, you get a soft band that washes the wall above and below, which is easy to sit beside for a long evening and gentle enough to leave on when someone else in the room is asleep.

Wood is the right material for a fitting meant to be this quiet. It warms the light reflected off it, it sits naturally against most palettes, and it does not show fingerprints the way brushed metal does. This is a hard-wired fitting: isolate the circuit at the breaker panel before installation, and have a qualified electrician carry out the work if you are not confident with house wiring.
