Scandinavian Metal Dome Pendant Light

The dome is the shape pendant lighting keeps returning to, because the curve reflects light downward more efficiently than a cone and gives a softer edge to the pool below than a cylinder. It is the compromise that works, which is why it has outlasted most alternatives.

This one is spun in metal with a pale interior, so the surface bounces light down rather than absorbing it, and the exterior is finished in matte to keep it from catching reflections from the rest of the room. The rim is left clean, with no beading or lip to interrupt the profile.

Hung singly over a small table it is a quiet centrepiece; hung in a row of three above an island the repeated curve gives the run a rhythm. Drop length is adjustable at installation to suit ceiling height and table position. This is a hard-wired fitting: isolate the circuit at the breaker panel before installation, and have a qualified electrician carry out the work if you are not confident with house wiring.
