Nordic Beam Wood & Iron Wall Light

The Nordic Beam is built around a single length of wood fixed flat to the wall, with an iron shade at one end. The beam is decorative and functional at once, which is the Scandinavian trick: nothing has been added, the mounting element is simply left visible and finished well.

Because the shade sits at the end of the beam rather than directly on the backplate, the light is thrown clear of the wall and lands where you actually need it, on a book or a work surface rather than on the plaster behind the fitting. Turning the shade adjusts that further.

The pairing of materials does the rest. Iron keeps the shade thin and the edges crisp; the wood beam stops the whole thing reading as industrial. It is offered in two finishes, black or white, so the wood is painted rather than left bare - choose on how much contrast you want against the wall. It is a hardwired fitting - isolate the circuit at the breaker panel first, and have a qualified electrician confirm the fixture's rated voltage before wiring it in.
