Vintage Amber Bubble Glass Pendant Light

Bubble glass carries small air pockets suspended within the shade, and each one catches and bends the light passing through it. Lit, the whole surface sparkles unevenly rather than glowing flat.

Amber is the traditional tone for it and the reason is practical: warm-tinted glass makes the light itself warmer, which suits the retro reference and flatters a room in the evening. Together the tint and the bubbles produce a glow closer to firelight than to a modern lamp.

The size and distribution of the bubbles differs from shade to shade, so hung as a group the variation reads as character rather than inconsistency. It is offered with a gold or a black fitting, in two drops: 25 cm wide by 29 cm and 25 cm wide by 17 cm. A clear filament bulb emphasises the bubbles most strongly. It is a hardwired fitting - isolate the circuit at the breaker panel first, and have a qualified electrician confirm the fixture's rated voltage before wiring it in.
