A fountain pen that retracts solves the one thing that keeps most people from carrying one: the cap. The JINHAO 20 clicks closed like a ballpoint, so it lives in a pocket or a bag with nothing to unscrew, nothing to lose and no uncapped nib finding your shirt. The barrel is moulded plastic rather than metal, which keeps it light in the hand over a long writing session and keeps the price in the range where you can carry it to work without worrying about it.
The writing is where it earns its keep. The nib lays down a smooth line with almost no pressure, which is the whole point of a fountain pen — the hand fatigue that comes from pressing a ballpoint into paper simply is not there. Two everyday nib widths are offered, EF (extra fine) for small handwriting, tight notebook ruling and margin notes, and F (fine) for a slightly broader everyday line; a third option, 03, is also listed by the maker. It takes standard ink cartridges or a converter for bottled ink, and a six-pack of cartridges is available here as its own option.
There are 23 finishes, from matte black and green-black for a desk to clear demonstrator bodies, pearl and glacier finishes and brighter yellows and oranges for a journal or a gift, with silver, gold, black and rose clip variations across several of them. Store it nib-up when it is not in use, cap it between sessions, and flush the nib with cool water if it sits unused for a few weeks. Fountain pen ink is water-based and will run if the page gets wet, and it bleeds on thin or cheap paper.

No cap, no problem
The one thing that stops most people carrying a fountain pen is the cap. This one clicks closed like a ballpoint, so it lives in a pocket or a bag without ever finding your shirt.
A line that simply flows
The nib lays down a smooth, consistent line with almost no pressure, which is why pages of notes stop feeling like work. Ink starts the moment it touches paper.
Built for the long meeting
The contoured barrel sits in the hand at a natural angle and spreads its weight across your fingers. Cozy Crest shaped it for people who write all day, not once a month.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the retractable mechanism work?
A click at the top extends and retracts the nib behind a sealed shutter, so the pen closes like a ballpoint and the ink stays exactly where it belongs.
Will the nib dry out in a pocket?
No. The internal seal closes over the nib as it retracts, keeping the ink ready to write the second you click it open again.
What ink does it take?
It uses standard ink cartridges and also accepts a converter for bottled ink, so you can keep things simple or mix your own colors as you like.
Is it comfortable for long writing sessions?
The barrel is contoured and balanced so your grip stays relaxed, and the nib needs almost no pressure, which is what stops your hand aching after several pages.
Does it work for left handed writers?
Yes. The nib is smooth in every direction and the ink settles quickly, so it writes cleanly with a left handed grip at a normal writing angle.
