Striped Canvas Double Camping Hammock

Canvas behaves differently from rope or nylon. It supports the body as a continuous surface rather than pressing a lattice into your back, which is why a canvas hammock is comfortable for an afternoon rather than only for a photograph.

The double width takes two people, or gives one person room to lie diagonally, which is how a hammock is actually meant to be used: lying across the axis flattens the curve considerably and takes the pressure off your spine.

It packs down for camping and hangs from trees, posts or a stand. Hang points must be genuinely sound and rated for well above the combined load, since a hammock multiplies weight substantially at a shallow hanging angle. Never hang it high, keep the seat close to the ground so a fall is short, check the ropes and fixings before every use, and do not exceed the stated weight limit. Take it in when wet: canvas left damp will mildew.
