Marble is the material that makes this fitting worth its price, and the reason is that it cannot be repeated. Each lamp is cut from natural stone, so the veining, the density of the pattern and the exact tone differ from piece to piece, and a pair either side of a bed will be related rather than identical.

Black marble in particular does something unusual under light. The pale veining catches illumination while the ground stays dark, so the stone appears to have light running through it rather than across it, which is an effect no printed or molded finish achieves.

The LED is integrated and energy efficient, drawing a fraction of the power a halogen fitting of similar output would. Stone is heavy: fix into a sound substrate using anchors rated for the weight rather than relying on drywall alone. This is a hard-wired fitting: isolate the circuit at the breaker panel before installation, and have a qualified electrician carry out the work.
