Modern Gold Geometric Cage Ceiling Light

An open cage does something a solid shade cannot: it uses the ceiling as a canvas. Light escaping between the metal struts throws the cage's own geometry upward and outward, so the fitting draws a pattern of lines across the plaster around it that changes with the bulb you choose.

The gold finish warms that effect considerably. Where a black cage gives sharp graphic shadows, gold catches light on the struts themselves, so the frame glows as well as casting, and the overall impression is warm rather than severe.

Because nothing is enclosed, the bulb is visible, and that makes it part of the design: a clear filament bulb gives crisp shadows and a vintage look, while a frosted one softens the whole effect. Use a low-wattage bulb to keep the shadow lines defined. This is a hard-wired fitting: isolate the circuit at the breaker panel before installation, and have a qualified electrician carry out the work if you are not confident with house wiring.
