Stacking shades is a mid-century trick that solves a real problem. Each layer catches some of the light and passes the rest on, so the output is diffused in stages rather than all at once, and there is no single hard-edged pool below.

The layers also give the fitting depth from below, which is the angle a pendant is most often seen from. Where a single shade presents a flat rim and a bright interior, a stacked one shows a series of concentric edges and a gradient of light between them. It is offered in orange, green or white, with a choice of a black or white flex and ceiling plate.

The scale is deliberately modest, so it suits a hallway or a smaller dining table where a large statement pendant would dominate. The vintage reference is in the proportions rather than in applied detail, which keeps it from reading as a reproduction. It is a hardwired fitting - isolate the circuit at the breaker panel first, and have a qualified electrician confirm the fixture's rated voltage before wiring it in.
