Reversible Outdoor Patio Rug

An outdoor rug does the same thing on a patio that a rug does in a living room: it draws a boundary around the seating and turns a hard expanse of paving or decking into a defined area. Without one, outdoor furniture tends to float in the middle of nothing.

Reversibility gives you two schemes from one rug, and it doubles the working life: when one face has taken a season of sun, turn it over. The weave is a plastic-based flat weave, which is the material that actually survives outdoors, unlike a natural fiber that rots from underneath.

It hoses clean, dries quickly, and rolls up for storage over winter. Lift and dry the paving underneath occasionally, since anything left flat on stone will hold moisture and encourage algae beneath it. In exposed positions weight or peg the corners, as a light flat-weave rug will lift in strong wind.
