Sorana Black Acrylic Wall Clock

Black is the harder color to get right on a clock, because contrast has to come from somewhere. The Sorana solves it by putting pale hands and fine indices against a deep matte acrylic face, so the markings read cleanly across a room while the body of the clock stays quiet against the wall.

Acrylic is the right material for this. It takes a genuinely flat matte finish that absorbs light rather than bouncing it, which is what keeps a black clock from turning into a mirror under a ceiling light.
